Chalet Ailefroide has been renovated & redecorated in a contemporary style that combines modern influences with elements of a traditional alpine chalet. Situated at the end of the road it is a ten/fifteen minute walk across the fields to the centre of Vallouise.
GROUND FLOOR
The entrance hall offers ample storage facilities for outdoor equipment. A glass-panelled door to the left of the entrance opens into a large, fully-equipped, open-plan kitchen/dining area with a double sink, dishwasher, fridge/freezer & microwave. The dining area seats up to 8 people & provides access to a south-facing terrace and patio through double glass doors. A shower room with shower cubicle, toilet, wash basin and washing machine is situated between two bedrooms: one double & the other a bunk bed room.
FIRST FLOOR
At the top of the stairs there is a large sitting room equipped with sofas and individual seating. There is a 37” flatscreen TV, DVD and CD players, a writing/computer desk and a modern wood-burning stove. French windows provide access to a spacious south-facing balcony with extensive mountain views. The first floor bedroom comprises a large double bed & a built in wardrobe where a portable folding single bed is stored. Adjacent to this is a family bathroom with full size bath, walk-in shower and double wash basins. There is a separate toilet with hand basin.
MEZZANINE FLOOR
From the sitting room an open staircase leads to a charming attic bedroom with a sloping wood-panelled ceiling and two full size single beds.
During the winter months electric heaters maintain a constant warm ambient temperature throughout the chalet. The two bathrooms have electric underfloor heating. An ample supply of hot water is provided from a 300L tank.

Chalet Ailefroide has its own private parking area located 50m away. The property has a paved patio area to the east of the building and a small grass garden to the west thus ensuring access to both sun and shade throughout the day. Together with the first floor balcony these areas provide ideal places to relax and enjoy the superb open views towards Puy-St-Vincent village and ski resort with its stunning mountain skyline.
In winter there is a bus service from La Casse to the local ski resorts of Puy-St-Vincent and Pelvoux, as well as to the nearest town, L'Argentiere. In summer there is mountain biking, and walking on the doorstep, tennis courts a few minutes walk away and rock climbing and Via Ferrata all within a 10 minute drive.
As with all AlpBase accommodation the chalet comes complete with lots of local information about what's on offer, including free loan of maps, guidebooks and information sheets on rock and ice climbing, mountain biking, walking, ski mountaineering and Via Ferrata. We can also arrange family multi activity courses for you run by the best guides and instructors in the Hautes Alpes.

Position: Chalet Ailefroide is south facing, in a quiet hillside location overlooking Vallouise with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
Garden: Patios to the east and west of the chalet with garden chairs and table, small fireplace and BBQ.
