What’s
On Offer:
Our Multi Pitch Alpine Rock Courses teach you how
to tackle those dreamt of towers, faces and ridges
that stare up at you from coffee table climbing
books and out of the pages of outdoor catalogues.
We assume a base level of climbing experience such
as the ability to tie-in, belay, and abseil. With
these skills in place we are able to quickly move
on to the mechanics of moving efficiently over
rock, working all the time on a range of subjects
that include route finding, tackling difficult
pitches, fitness, equipment and multiple abseils.
By
the end of the week we will have climbed some of
the many stunning rock routes in the Ecrins Massif,
source of one of the largest concentrations of multi-pitch
alpine rock in Europe. The Ecrins is over 30 times
larger than the Chamonix Valley and the highlight
of this region is definitely the 500+ top quality
multi-pitch alpine rock routes. The majority of these
mixed bolted and trad climbs are easily accessible
from AlpBase.com, in the mountain village of Vallouise,
gateway to the Ecrins Massif itself. Plus this area
is renowned for its 300 days of sunshine every year,
which means the conditions are very reliable, and
it is rare to miss a day’s climbing.
During
the course you will cover the following:
Multi pitch seconding and leading; technique sessions;
safety on steep ground; alpine rock multi-pitch;
training for performance; lightweight equipment;
evening climbing lectures.

| Notes: |
1. Courses run Monday to Friday (5 guided
days) and the accommodation is available for you Sunday
to Saturday (arrival and departure days).
2. The all inclusive cost covers instruction, food, accommodation, and transport
so there is very little else that you have to pay for.
3. The maximum guided ratio on a course is 1:2. This ratio ensures that you can
progress at your own pace and in accordance with your ability. It also means
that the course is very flexible and can be tailored exactly to your requirements.
4. Once you have registered you will be sent a full equipment list but where
possible you will need to supply your own clothing, rock shoes, helmet, rucksack
and harness.
5. Participants must arrange their own cancellation and mountain rescue insurance.
6. Evening lectures on topics such as training techniques are available, but
generally we see the evenings as a time to relax and enjoy. After dinner there
is always an opportunity for a climbing DVD or a glass of wine on the balcony
as the sun sets on Mt Bonvoisin (3,481m.) at the head of our valley. Conversely
Jerry is more than happy to give a slide show on one of his many expeditions.
